“Just because we are married doesn’t give him any legal right over my property, savings or inheritance.”
Fact
  Fact
This is a common misunderstanding. Marriage is a legally binding contract and one of its conditions is that once a couple are married, their assets and liabilities are considered to be jointly held and considered as such should they split up. Whilst you are together, you may choose to keep finances separate, but if you divorce, the assets will be considered jointly.
